Top 10 tips for doing your own Bridal Make-Up

We get it, wedding's are already expensive and with costs creeping up a question you'll ask yourself is, do I really need a Make-Up Artist as well?
So the pro's are this;
- Make-up artists are professionals, who'll understand your skin type
- They have years of experience to create the bridal look you've always dreamed of
- It's convenient and
- It's a lovely little luxury for the morning of your big day; sit back, pour a glass of bubbles and let them take care of the rest.
But, if you're asking yourself, can I do this myself? The answer is absolutely you can!
We've been speaking with professional make-up artist and Bride-glam'er, Melanie Palma (@melaniapalmamua) who's given us her top-tips for doing your own bridal make-up for your wedding day. Plus, scroll to the bottom of the page to see a list of her product recommendations.
Tip 1 - SKIN IS EVERYTHING
Your makeup will blend flawlessly and last all day & night if it's put on a good prepped base. Drink plenty of water leading up to the wedding, always use a water-based moisturiser, some brides will do a skin treatment/face mask soon before the wedding or even waxing/threading on the face.
Tip 2 - LASHES
A lash really does finish off a makeup look, there are so many options at the moment too. A strip lash is my personal favourite as there are so many styles to choose from, you are guaranteed to find a lash that suits your eye shape and the look you're going for. Duo Glue for the win when applying

Tip 3 - BLUSH
This is my absolute favourite product to use when doing bridal glams, this in your photos just looks divine! A lot of women always think blush just comes in pinky tones, but how wrong they are! There are so many shades of blush, and you can use cream, liquid or powder. I love to tie in the eyes with the cheeks, so if you are having a slight peach on the eyes, a slight peachy blush should be used on the cheeks!
Tip 4 - LIPS
Something that will last the whole day? in most cases is really difficult as you are eating, drinking, talking etc. However, with most my brides a lip liner is my go to! Super easy to apply, and very long lasting. Apply all over the lips, and buff in, this will stain the lip creating a long lasting colour! Lock in with some balm or gloss. Morphe lip liners are only £4.50 and they are amazing!

Tip 5 - TIME
Take your time, pour yourself a glass and enjoy it! Makeup application requires time, and you will not achieve a flawless look when you have rushed!
So, yes. It absolutely is possible to do your own wedding make-up!
Our advice? Give yourself plenty of time to practise beforehand, make sure the colours are all in your shade and ask your bridesquad to take some practise photos of you in daylight to make sure it's the look that you're after.
